PREP (Catechism) - Parish Religious Education for Children

Ministries
Overview

The goal of PREP (Catechism) is to assist parents in the religious education of children not attending Catholic schools and to prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist (Grade 2) and Confirmation (Grade 7). We also offer a Connections class for older students who have missed sacraments.

PREP used to be known as CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) or "Catechism."

At St. Nicholas, our program runs from September to May each year. Students in Grades 1 to 7 attend a weekly session on either Wednesdays (5:00PM - 6:15PM) or Thursdays (6:15PM - 7:30PM).

Registration for the 2025/26 school year is now CLOSED.

Please contact our PREP Coordinator directly to arrange late registration:
Email Rachel Charron at prep.snic@rcav.org.

Please note that students must have completed 2 years of religious education prior to receiving the Sacraments. For example, students can only be accepted in the First Communion class if they have completed Grade 1 PREP or equivalent, and the Confirmation class if they have completed Grade 6 PREP or equivalent.

For further information about the program or to volunteer as a teacher, classroom assistant, occasional substitute or general administration assistant, please contact our PREP Coordinator, Rachel Charron at prep.snic@rcav.org.
