The goal of PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) is to assist parents in the religious education of children not attending Catholic schools and to prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist (Grade 2) and Confirmation (Grade 7).
PREP used to be known as CCD (Catechism Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) or "Catechism."
At St. Nicholas, our program runs from September to May each year. Students in Grades 1 to 7 attend a weekly session on either Wednesdays (4:00PM - 5:15PM) or Thursdays (6:15PM - 7:30PM).
To register a student for PREP, please fill out the form linked below and submit it with payment (cash or cheque) to the Parish Office.
Please note that students must have completed 2 years of religious education prior to receiving the Sacraments. For example, students can only be accepted in the First Communion class if they have completed Grade 1 PREP r equivalent, and the Confirmation class if they have completed Grade 6 PREP or equivalent.
For further information about the program or to volunteer as a teacher, classroom assistant, occasional substitute or general administration assistant, please contact our PREP Coordinator, Rachel Charron at [email protected].
